WORK > THE CLOUD

THE CLOUD image was taken from an Albert Bierstadt painting from 1873 called "Beach Scene." Creating a backdrop from a Hudson River School painting for an installation of artworks tied to the Hudson Valley, was a way of acknowledging that a young nation's first art movement was born in the Hudson Valley and has flourished in the Hudson Valley ever since.

"Beach Scene," by Albert Bierstadt is pictured above. The image used for the artwork was taken from the internet. The image was cropped, flipped and scaled to fit the 29 x 18 foot wall designated for the installation. Each pixel in the appropriated image was scaled up to an inch and a half square. The final image file used for the artwork was less than 125 Kilobytes.
